Learn French

As well as helping you to learn French, this site can enhance your 'French experience' in many ways. Before leaving this page be sure to visit the site map to find out how....
"So you want to learn French? I did too and ended up with a Diploma from the Institute of Linguists. What advice would I give? First, cynicism! If you see a course that tells you that you can learn French in 2 weeks, 3 months, by swallowing pills or in your sleep, allow yourself the tiniest glimmer of doubt. Secondly, be aware that you face a monster. Things are not things in French, they have a sex - la or le. Logical, the French? Jamais! Handbag? male (worrying), mustache? female (terrifying). Then there are verbs. In English we use nice little auxiliary verbs to do the work: I 'will', 'would', 'might', 'did' eat. The French change the verb itself. Hundreds of times. The guy who said that English is the world's hardest language to learn never tried another. The way to learn French is persistence and repetition. You should also use the best tools."   Alan Biggins  learn French

Here are the tools! Where a site or information is more, or only, applicable to Britain or the States, we 'flag' the fact.
