Brittany’s got the lot.

Not only is it safe and sunny (mostly!), it’s blessed with vibrant historical towns, bewitching music and wonderful food.

Then there’s the coast: mile after mile of warm, clean white-sand beaches, aquamarine seas, towering cliffs and magical islands.

This guide gives you 30 great days out in this incomparable area. And it does so in a new,  practical and easy to use format.

This is no 'A to Z' of places, it is a map driven guide book, so that you can see at a glance great places to visit in your area. Here's how it works..

1. The index has a map of Brittany, showing the central point of each of the thirty days out...

2. Each day has a chapter of the book devoted to it. On the the first page of the chapter, there is a mini-map to remind you whereabouts it is.

Above is the mini-map for day 17, Locronan to Raz Point, (covered by pages 91 to 97)

3. The area covered by each day has a more detailed map, or maps, devoted to it (in this case Locronan, Douarnenez, Raz Point, the Isle of Sein and Audierne)

4. Each day is crammed with places to visit – some free, some paying, some for adults, some for children, many for both. So many enjoyable things to do – hundreds in all - that you will probably split many ‘days’ into two. The area and its attractions are described in detail.

Here, too, the book is a bit of a ground breaker. Not for nothing is it called a practical guide....

  • telling you how much attractions cost, and at what age they consider a ‘child’ has become an ‘adult’ (anywhere between 4 and 26!)  – so that you know what you’ll be paying before you get to the ticket window….
  • giving opening times (closing for lunch and on Monday is common in France)
  • what about a trip to an island?  How much? Do you need to pre-book? How?
  • clear and easy to use, with dozens of purpose-drawn maps, showing you exactly where things are

There are background essays on subjects such as driving, cycling, language and history to make your visit even more memorable.

5. Full colour photographs are used throughout - like this one - nature's kiss - two affectionate trees in the mysterious Arthurian forest of Broceliande

The perfect companion for 30 Great Days out In Brittany is this 1:250,000 scale folded IGN  map - which we believe to be the best general purpose map of  Brittany.

This wonderfully clear map (IGN is the Institut Geographique National, France's National Mapping Agency) is a must-have for the driver and navigator. It includes latitude and longitude information and a city centre map for Rennes. It has a map key in English.
